Smokin' hot for W-day

All brides love a smoky eye on their wedding day. But as popular as this look is, it’s still one of the hardest makeup looks to pull off. A smoky eye doesn’t always have to be achieved with black eye shadow. You can create this look with dark brown, grey, blue, green and purple eye shadows. For a destination bride who has never worn a smoky look, this could be a disaster. Below you will find my tips for creating a smoky glamxurious eye application that any first timer can achieve.

Choose a color of cream eye shadow. I like to use my fingers to apply the cream shadow by patting the color only on the eyelid. A flat stiff brush also works well.

Now select the same color in a powder using a stiff eye shadow and pat over the cream eye shadow. This technique will help the color to stay as well as give the eye shadow a bolder eye color.

With a crease brush I like to use a shimmer bronzer and blend only in the crease in a windshield wiper motion.

With my fingers, I like to pat a vanilla pigment on the brow bone to use as a highlighter.

Using a cream eyeliner in black, line the top and bottom of the eye using a slanted angle brush. Use a black kohl pencil in the bottom rim/waterline. Before the cream liner dries, go back and smudge. If you use a black eye shadow to smear it with, it really gives it a smoked-out look. Using a hard eye shadow brush apply the black eye shadow in the outer part of the eyes stopping at the crease.

The last step is to apply 3-4 coats of carbon black mascara and/or black eye lashes.

The smoky eye is a simple and fabulous look that doesn’t have to be a nightmare for any bride on her wedding.

Warm island color for a winter wedding

In a Winter Wonderland, December and January destination brides always have to think of how to illuminate their skin on their wedding day. For my winter brides, I like to use Smashbox Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation Primer on the skin. It evens out the skin and gives my bride that beautiful luminous glow. In addition, it creates a smooth and perfect canvas. I like using a makeup brush as I apply this silky primer for an even distribution for foundation application.

To play up skin that still has a nice bronze, the Smashbox Photo Finish Bronzing Primer will enhance bronzed skin. Just like the foundation primer, the bronzing primer also has a silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants. The silicone emulsion will fill in fine lines as well as smooth out pores, skin texture and add a delicate bronze hue to the face. It’s a great product to use alone or with foundation, concealer or powder for a flawless finish.

As it snows on your wedding day, be sure that as you walk down the aisle you will be the only one glowing…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
